Summer holiday activities: Acts of Kindness

Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August

10am–4.30pm
Suitable for ages 2–12 years
Free, some events require booking on the day

It really is cool to be kind so have fun and spread a little love this summer!

Spend quality time doing hands-on art, craft and digital activities, family tours and trails in the museum gardens. Download the flyer (pdf)

We allocate places for booked activities 30 minutes before each activity begins, on a first-come, first-served basis. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All activities are accessible for families with additional needs.


Activities for Thursday

Nursery Rhyme Time: Little Red Hen (ages 2–5 years)

10.30–11.30am and 12–1pm

The kind animals make food for their hungry friends in this interactive story-telling and craft session.

Hands on Tour: Community Living (ages 6+)

11am, 12pm, 1pm and 3pm, tours last 45 minutes
In the restored almshouse
Free for children, adults £5

Journey back to Victorian times, explore mystery objects and discover how the poor and elderly lived together in the restored Geffrye Almshouse.

Free dressing up, activity packs, quizzes and trails to help you explore the museum's front gardens together.

Bingo! (all ages)

10.30am–4pm (closed 12–1pm for lunch)

Who is the kindest person in your family? Make an interactive board game for everyone to play together.

Painted Mugs (ages 8+)

10.30am–4pm (closed 1–2pm for lunch)

Paint a commemorative mug to celebrate a special act of kindness that you are proud of.

Nursery Rhyme Time: The Good Giant (ages 2–5 years)

10.30–11.30am and 12–1pm

Sing songs and make a kindness crown in this interactive storytelling and craft session.

Digital workshop: #COOLTOBEKIND (all equipment provided) (ages 8+)

2–4pm
Inside the building
15 places available (book on the day)

Create a video meme in this digital and craft workshop to help us spread the kindness message.

Do you like being kind to wildlife? Make a sensory mobile or wall decoration and find out about swallows, a Victorian symbol of kindness.

Facilities and locations

Family activities take place under canopies in the museum's front gardens. Nursery Rhyme Time and Digital workshops take place in the museum’s Georgian Room. There is space on the lawn to bring and enjoy your own picnic. We will also have a range of drinks and lights snacks available to buy. Toilets and baby changing facilities are available.
