Paid Opportunities

Paid opportunities for young people at the Geffrye

(c) Jayne Lloyd / Geffrye Museum

The museum currently offers young people aged 16-24 two paid opportunities: the Young Consultants Programme and Post-Graduate Internships. The idea behind each paid opportunity is for young people to gain hands-on skills in the museum sector that they are able to use in portfolios and on their CVs and UCAS forms.

Young Consultants Programme

Young Consultants at the Geffrye

(c) Jayne Lloyd / Geffrye Museum

This programme is for young people who are interested in working behind-the-scenes with museum staff. Consultants guide and influence the direction of the Young People’s Programme and contribute ideas to both the forward planning and strategic development of museum polices, as well as to the Museum of the Home development project. Past Consultants worked with staff to choose the themes, content, text and interactive elements of the museum’s At Home with the World exhibition. We currently have 7 Young Consultants on the programme.

Post-Graduate Internships

Paid Graduate Internships

(c) Em Fitzgerald / Geffrye Museum

This programme offers post-graduate students a 6-month paid internship, and an opportunity to gain hands-on education and project co-ordination experience within the museum sector. As part of the programme, the intern works alongside the Young People’s Programme Manager and Coordinator to plan, prepare and facilitate the Young People’s Programme as well as provide administrative, evaluation, documentation and social-media assistance.

We are not currently recruiting for a young persons intern.
