We warmly welcome pupils from special schools and pupils with Special Educational Needs in mainstream education.
Sessions for pupils with SEN aim to encourage communication and cognitive skills and develop auditory and visual memory. The museum has an extensive handling collection of historic and multi-sensory objects, including sounds and smells.
The sessions can be adapted to suit pupils with all types of learning needs. We have experience of working with PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD and other complex needs.
The Geffrye supports teachers in delivering the new National Curriculum from September 2014. Our collection is ideally suited to fostering an understanding of chronology and context. New sessions have been devised for all year groups. Preview the SEN sessions here.
We will be offering Inset sessions for teachers who wish to familiarise themselves with different historical periods.
Please ring Janice Welch on 020 7739 9893 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the Special Educational Needs of your pupils and how we can work together to provide the best individual session for your class. We look forward to seeing you this term.
