Schools' Outreach Programme: Spring 2018 onwards

While the museum is closed we will be offering object-based outreach sessions for schools.

Our handling collection contains objects found in the home over the last 400 years and can be used to support classroom based learning across the curriculum at all key stages.

The programme has been designed so that you can choose the objects and themes to best reflect your curriculum whether you are exploring a particular time period or how a certain theme has changed over time.

SEND learning at the Geffrye

We warmly welcome pupils from special schools and pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in mainstream education.

Sessions for pupils with SEND aim to encourage communication and cognitive skills and develop auditory and visual memory. The museum has an extensive handling collection of historic and multi-sensory objects, including sounds and smells.

The sessions can be adapted to suit pupils with all types of learning needs. We have experience of working with PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD and other complex needs.

We offer Inset sessions for teachers who wish to familiarise themselves with different historical periods.

Please contact the Bookings Officer on 020 7739 9893 or email bookings@geffrye-museum.org.uk to discuss the individual needs of your pupils and how we can work together to provide the best session for your class.

For further visit information and a full list of session charges and discounts please see our bookings page.
