Homes Then and Now

History at KS1

Teaching a primary school class in the 1998 living room at the Geffrye

Children will look at the similarities and differences between homes today and in the past using two of our period rooms.

During this session pupils will:

  • Experience our unique collection of furniture, paintings and handling artefacts.
  • Relate their own experience of a living room to the past.
  • Explore time-related vocabulary and changes in technology and lifestyles.
  • Create observational drawings of objects from different periods.
