Britain since WW2

History at KS2

Primary school pupil in a teaching session at the Geffrye

An exciting opportunity to consider the impact of WW2 and the influence of key individuals on design and technology in the home by comparing our 1930s, 1950s and 1990s period living rooms.

During this session pupils will:

  • Learn to ‘read’ a room to increase knowledge and understanding of domestic life
  • Consider the contribution of key events and individuals to the development of design and technology in the home
  • Investigate our unique collection of furniture and handling artefacts
  • Create close observational drawings of objects from different periods
