At the end of last year the 'Make Some Noise' Youth Project worked on a sound piece with an award-winning film composer and artist and radio producer, Ruby Wright. The original sound work used domestic objects from the participants' homes and from the museum's collection and was performed live on 12 December. It is soon to be broadcast on Resonance Radio but you can listen to it here (running time 5 minutes).
These workshops are free and suitable for young people aged 13 and over. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes in advance of each workshop.
Use clay to create your own ceramic piece inspired by the museum's collections.
Screen print your own 60s-style design based on the Geffrye period rooms.
Bake your own herb bread using herbs from the Geffrye gardens.
Work alongside a fashion designer and hat maker to create headwear and accessories inspired by contemporary and historic designs and help put on a fashion show as part of the ‘March Madness’ family event.No previous experience necessary, just an enthusiasm and commitment to learn fashion design skills and to be part of an event. We are running a free animation workshop as part of the museum's March Madness Family Day programmed by our Youth Panel for young people aged 13 and over. Using the museum's collection as inspiration, work with Chocolate Films to make and create animated films and then watch them back on the big screen.

During the school holidays you will be able to participate in fun and creative training sessions, with the aim of choosing and researching your favourite objects in the museum. Along with other young volunteers, you will have the opportunity to develop stories and rehearse a tour for families visiting the museum. Come along and learn new skills, meet new people and have fun! We welcome all young people aged 14-19 who are interested in becoming young volunteers.

We welcome all young people aged 14-21 who are interested in becoming members of our Youth Panel. You will have the opportunity to act as consultants for the museum, recommending ways of making the venue and our exhibitions, activities and events more appealing to other young people. The Geffrye Museum offers youth groups one-off art, craft, cooking, writing, sound and performance sessions as well as longer-term creative projects which take place in the evenings in term time or during the half terms and holidays. Sessions and projects can be tailored to suit the groups' interests and needs.
