Saturday Specials and Family Days

On the first Saturday of every month the Geffrye offers a range of fun activities, including quizzes (all ages) and creative crafts (suitable for young people aged 5 - 11). Workshops run from 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm. The quiz desk and feely box is open all afternoon and all activities are free. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes prior to the workshop.

Tea Time Tick Tocks

  • Saturday 4 February, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Construct a teacup-shaped clock to tell the time.

Springtime Frames

  • Saturday 3 March, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Create a springtime character or flower-shaped photo frame.

Global Eggs

  • Saturday 7 April, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Decorate an egg and eggcup inspired by a country of your choice.

Thirsty Work

  • Saturday 5 May, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Taste drinking chocolate and paint a mug with 17th-century-style patterns.

Wonderful Wooden Toys

  • Saturday 2 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Make and decorate a variety of wooden toys inspired by those from the 19th century.


A Touch of Spice Family Day

Join in creative craft workshops inspired by spices and flowers and listen to stories and music from across Asia. 
An event to celebrate the museum's Asian Women’s Project.


Going Global Family Day

  • Sunday 25 March, 12noon - 5.00pm


Inspired by our At Home with the World exhibition, join us for fun activities from all over the globe! Children can decorate Eastern-style tiles, young people can learn and develop image-editing skills and everyone can get dressed up in costumes and listen to stories and live music from around the world.


This event is part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme Stories of the World. Going Global has been programmed by our Youth Advisory Panel.
