Saturday Specials and Holiday Activities

On the first Saturday of every month the Geffrye offers a range of fun activities, including quizzes (all ages) and creative crafts (suitable for young people aged 5 - 11). All children must be accompanied by an adult. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes prior to the workshop.

Tea Time Tick Tocks

  • Saturday 4 February 2012, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Construct a teacup-shaped clock to tell the time.

Springtime Frames

  • Saturday 3 March, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Create a springtime character or flower-shaped photo frame.

Global Eggs

  • Saturday 7 April, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Decorate an egg and eggcup inspired by a country of your choice.

Thirsty Work

Taste drinking chocolate and paint a mug with 17th-century-style patterns.

Wonderful Wooden Toys

  • Saturday 2 June, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2.00 - 4.00pm


Make and decorate a variety of wooden toys inspired by those from the 19th century.

 All our workshops this half-term are inspired by household containers. Create amazing animations, crazy container puppets, clay pots and candle holders.

Mirror Mirror - for ages 8 and over

Create a funky folding mirror for your bedroom.

Light Up Your Life - All ages

  • Drop in anytime between 2.00 and 4.00pm (20 places available)


Decorate a night light holder and make a candle.


All workshops are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the workshop begins. Workshops are free for children and families. Children under 11 must be accompanied in the workshops and in the museum.

Explore homes from around the world through stories, songs and craft activities.


Holiday and weekend activities are for children aged 3 - 16 and are free for individuals and their families. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each activity. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Quizzes are available during half terms, holidays and every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
