Weekend Activities and Family Days
Join us for colourful art and craft workshops, storytelling and live musical entertainment. All activities are free. Workshop places are allocated on a first-come, first served basis 30 minutes before each activity. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Celebrate the centenary of the Geffrye Museum and tri-centenary of the Geffrye’s almshouses. Young people can create perplexing photo portraits, children can listen to almshouse animal stories, play historic garden games and make animal masks, and everyone can dance along to some live recycled rhythms.
Drum and dance along to The Rig’s weird and wonderful sounds, inspired by the historic rubbish beneath the Geffrye’s front lawns.

Baker family fun
Enjoy vintage garden games played by almshouse children in the 1800s.

Tales about Tails
Hear fun stories about all the amazing animals that have lived in the almshouses.
Suitable for all ages: 1.30 - 2pm and 3 - 3.30pm
Decorate your own marvellous animal masks inspired by creatures that have roamed the Geffrye.
Suitable for children aged 5 and over. Drop in anytime from 12.30 - 2pm and 3 - 4.30pm
A digital media workshop with Chocolate Films. Inspired by the 1800s toy ‘Monstrosity Scope’, learn to capture powerful portraits and to distort them into something new.

Centenary Celebrations Tours
Join our Young Volunteer Tour Guides to explore the museum and our Centenary Celebrations display and go behind-the-scenes in the almshouses and gardens.
Suitable for all ages: Tours start at 11.30am, 12.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm
