Holiday Activities

Foxy Faces creative workshop at the Geffrye Museum

Holiday activities take place in October half-term, February half-term, the Easter Holidays, May/June half term and the summer holidays. All activities are free and are for individual children and families and are suitable for children aged 5-16 years old. All workshops are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the workshop begins. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesday 28 July - Friday 31 July, Tuesday 4 – Friday 7 August and Tuesday 11-Friday 14 August, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm

Three weeks of free exciting summer activities, exploring the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of our gardens and period rooms. Create lotions and potions, beeswax candles, garden-inspired drinks and more!

Week 1 - Tuesday 28 – Friday 31 July

Tuesday 28 July 

Queen Bee Crowns and Drone Hats - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a crazy crown or brilliant bee hat inspired by our beehives.

Shrinking Garden Accessories - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Use magic shrinking plastic to create badges, key rings and other garden-inspired accessories.

Wednesday 29 July

Scratch and Sniff Game of Chance - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Be inspired by the scents of our gardens to create a game you can smell!

Honeycomb Candles - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Roll a beautiful beeswax candle and taste yummy honeys.

Thursday 30 July

Sense-sational Mini Gardens - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create your own mini musical garden and plant it with herb and flower seeds.

Lovely Lanterns - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Decorate a garden-inspired lantern to hang in your home.

Friday 31 July

Buzzy Bee Puppets - for ages 5 and over

10.30am -12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a buzzy bee puppet to fly around your garden.

Herby Cocktails - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Use herbs from our gardens to create your own delicious drink.

(Please note that owing to the high demand for places in our cooking workshops we advise that people join the queue early to avoid disappointment)

Bug and Bloom Bags - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2- 4pm (24 places available)

Print a super shopper bag or backpack with garden-inspired designs.

Fizzy Fragrant Bath Bombs - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Use dried herbs and flowers to create your own bath bombs.

Wednesday 5 August

Hanging Chandelier Planters - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Use recycled materials to create a fun hanging mini garden.

Humming Bees - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a brilliant buzzing bee-shaped instrument.

Thursday 6 August

Honey Lotions and Potions - for ages 5 and over

Create honey-scented lotions and potions to take home.

Scented Sachets - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a sweetly scented herb bag and decorate with leaf rubbing designs.

Brilliant Bee Prints - for ages 5 and over

Learn how to print a bee-inspired picture to hang in your home.

Gorgeous Garden Sweets - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create your own delicious garden-inspired sweets.

Magical Musical Marks - for all ages

Listen to garden-inspired music and draw along to the tunes.

Funny Faces - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a marvellous moving face picture and decide if they are happy or sad, awake or asleep.

Wednesday 12 August

Smell and Shake - for all ages

10.30 - 11.30am, 11.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Make a musical garden-inspired shaker which smells as lovely as it sounds!

Feely Fans - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Decorate a wooden fan with garden scenes and dried lavender to keep you cool and relaxed.

Thursday 14 August

Aromatic Accessories - for all ages

10.30 - 11.30am, 11.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create garden-scented magnets and badges inspired by bugs and blooms.

3D Bees - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Use felt making techniques to create your own mini buzzy bee.

Friday 15 August

Home Grown Herb Gardens - for all ages

10.30 - 11.30am, 11.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Decorate a plant pot to create your own marvellous mini herb garden.

Garden Garlands - for all ages

2 - 3pm and 3 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create bug and bloom-inspired glow in the dark garlands to hang in your home.

Get in the mood for spring! Bake herbal biscuits, create seasonal headwear and take part in a treasure hunt around the gardens.
