Holiday Activities

Holiday activities take place in October half-term, February half-term, the Easter Holidays, May/June half term and the summer holidays. All activities are free and are for individual children and families and are suitable for children aged 5-16 years old. All workshops are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the workshop begins. All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

London Children’s Book Swap

Saturday 14 February, 1 - 4pm. Free. Suitable for children aged 11 and under.

February half-term activities: Awesome Ornaments

Tuesday 17 - Friday 20 February, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm. Free.

Be inspired by the weird and wonderful decorative objects in the museum. Create crazy clay containers, fabulous photo frames, crafty candlesticks and more!

Tuesday 17 February

Fabulous Frames - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create a collage inspired by objects in the museum and then decorate a fabulous frame to surround it.

Crazy Candlesticks - for ages 5 - 8 years

2 - 4pm (14 places available)

Make a candlestick with a working flickering light using recycled materials.

Brilliant Bugs - for ages 8 and over

2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Learn a variety of stitches and decorate a canvas shopper bag or back pack.

Tiny Trinket Boxes - for all ages

Drop in anytime between 2pm and 4pm (20 places available)

Decorate a special small box to put your treasures in.


Wednesday 18 February

Fancy Food-Shaped Pots - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Craft a fabulous fruit or vegetable-shaped pot using clay. 

Natty Nature Domes - for ages 8 and over

2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create a bird, animal or flower ornament inspired by Victorian nature domes. 

Brilliant Ornamental Biscuits - for ages 11 and over

2 - 4pm (14 places available)

Bake and intricately decorate your own lights, vases and trinket biscuits. 

Magnificent Mobiles - for all ages

Drop in anytime between 2pm and 4pm (20 places available)

Craft a hanging ornament inspired by objects in the museum. 


Thursday 19 February

Marvellous Miniatures - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Create your own mini display case and fill it with miniature ornaments made from magical shrinking plastic. 

Felty Friends - for ages 5 - 8 years

2 - 4pm (14 places available)

Make a funky topper for your pencil using felt making techniques.

Creative Candles - for ages 8 and over

2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Decorate a glass candle-holder and hand-roll a lovely beeswax candle to place inside it.

Fireplace Frames - for all ages

Drop in anytime between 2pm and 4pm (20 places available)

Create a funky fireplace-shaped picture frame with ornaments on the top.


Friday 20 February

Talking Heads - for ages 5 and over

10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Be inspired by a head-shaped wall ornament and create a wearable crazy character cut-out. 

Foodie Tea Pots - for ages 8 and over

2 - 4pm (24 places available)

Craft a fruit or cake-shaped teapot ornament using clay. 

Tick-Tock-Tastic - for ages 11 and over

2 - 4pm (14 places available)

Inspired by our fantastic clock collection, create your own timeless clock so you'll never be late again!

Superb Savings - for all ages

Drop in anytime between 2pm and 4pm (20 places available)

Make a marvellous money box to keep your savings safe. 


Easter holiday activities: Gardens Galore!

Tuesday 7 - Friday 10 April 2015, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm

Celebrate the reopening of our gardens for spring and the launch of our new garden activity cart. Create seasonal headwear, plant seeds for spring and make beautiful baskets.
