design_technology

Pupils will investigate a selection of our Twentieth Century period rooms. In each room the themes of technology, materials, textiles, lighting and design style will be addressed. The Geffrye’s handling collection of authentic domestic artefacts provides an opportunity to study design close-up and students can focus on the objects and textiles in terms of context, form and function and method of manufacture.

Pupils will work individually, in small groups, investigate and draw objects and present their findings.

Optional creative activity:

Pupils will print and dye a piece of fabric using a variety of techniques.
