This session is intended to enable students to make connections between the Geffrye collection and their own work. Designed to inspire students in the early stages of art projects, pupils will be able to develop sketchbook and mood-board content through an introduction to the design styles that have influenced the domestic interior in the past one hundred years.

Students will be introduced to sketchbook methods, using a sketchbook in a museum or gallery and the development of themes from sketchbook work.

Extended creative activity:

Pupils will develop a theme within their sketchbook to create a large-scale work of art in pastel or paint.

This session can also be adapted to address KS 3 unit 8A: Objects and Viewpoints.

Session information:

Sessions run for two hours; the creative activity can be incorporated or extra time added by request. Suitable for a maximum of 30 students.
