Finance Director

Salary in the region of £50,000 pa


This important role will report to the Director.

Responsibilities:  Requirements

Developing a professional finance and accounting service

A proactive and adaptable approach

Management of pay and pensions 

CIPFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent accountancy qualifications

Preparation of the year end accounts for the annual audit 

Awareness of recommended practice in charity accounting

Being a key part of the senior level Management team 

The ability to present complex information in a simple and straightforward way

Apprentice Attendant

35 hrs per week
paid at National Minimum Wage applicable for age

Fixed term contract for 12 months


We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to those who would like to start a career in Visitor Services and get paid whilst learning the skills needed. In addition we are able to offer the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

We are searching for a young person in the age range of 16 to 18 inclusive, with a passion for working within a friendly and professional team, dedicated to providing an excellent level of customer service to our visitors and who is interested in completing our structured apprentice programme.

You will experience rewarding and challenging work and high quality on-the-job training. To succeed, you will need commitment, determination and a keen interest in working with other people to provide an excellent level of customer service.

What does the apprenticeship include?

  • Full induction into the organisation, apprenticeship scheme, and the specific job.
  • A placement within the front of house team at The Geffrye Museum.
  • The placement offers the opportunity to gain an understanding of how we work with visitors to provide a safe and secure environment
  • An apprenticeship mentor who will offer support, direction, feedback and evaluation
  • The opportunity to gain a Certificate in Cultural and Creative practice which combines on the job training and off the job training at City and Islington college 
  • An apprentice contributes to the successful running and development of the museum service and although the role can sometimes be a challenging one, we know that you will find the experience rewarding

  • To demonstrate a commitment to providing a high level of customer service to all of our visitors
  • To participate fully in the full range of training opportunities provided
  • To show commitment to the aims and objectives of The Geffrye Museum
  • To be committed to working in a team and becoming a valued member of the museum
  • To be motivated, pro-active and use initiative
  • To be able to commit to a twelve month full time training programme and fulfil the criteria set out in the person specification
  • A full level 2 NVQ or 5 GCSEs is desirable


What happens at the end of the apprenticeship?

  • Although there is no guarantee of a paid job within the museum, if qualified apprentices decide to pursue a career with us we will provide support and help in applying for jobs and interview preparation.
